My Story

In college, I studied Teledramatic Arts and Technology, which is a crazy way of saying "film school". I had dreams of making movies someday. And I did. I made a few award-winning short films. It was so much fun. But, on movie sets, there is a lot of waiting around; wardrobe changes, script revisions, camera placement changes, location changes, etc.

It was during these waiting periods that I would pull out my cell phone and walk around a take pictures, not really having any particular interest in photography, just a way to simply pass the time. Well, once I started posting those pics on Facebook, I received a ton of praise - people were saying "Wow! These are really good! You should start doing photography." I didn't even own a camera then, with the exception of my cell phone, (about 2 years before iphones existed!), so I didn't really consider the suggestions with any seriousness.

In addition, I met my wife at community college when I was a film major, and we married right before I set out to CSU Monterey Bay. We started a family right away and by the time I was a senior, I had three children (and a total four now).  Having three or four children is not easy even when you're not in school.

My wife was the one who suggested with serious earnest, that I should probably make the switch to photography. She saw that I loved the visual aspect of movie making. I liked the shot, the angle, the cinematography and directing. Now I get to do all of those things, but from a photographers lens. The switch felt natural and right. I haven't looked back since.

It is something I am passionate about and making a career out of it is more than a dream come true.

Thanks for visiting my site!

I look forward to helping you capture that special moment.
